A Call to Serve a Servant’s Heart
A Call to Serve a Servant’s Heart
Taylor Korenek Benefit
Servant, giving, caring, humble and loving are just some of the words friends used to describe Taylor Korenek. As an EMT in Fayette County for the past eight years, Taylor has shared his servant heart with those around him both at home and at work. Born to a selfless family, Taylor had a giving heart before he even knew it. Taylor’s father serves as the Sheriff of Fayette County and his mother serves the MHMR community at the Austin State Hospital. In every way, the Korenek family is the epitome of Acts 20:35; “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
In June 2020, Taylor received the unfortunate diagnosis of stage four neuroendocrine cancer. With this diagnosis came a whirlwind of scans, appointments, hospital stays, and more. Taylor underwent surgeries to resect part of his lung and thyroid. While Taylor’s medical path was complicated, his goal was simple: “Take care of everyone.” He continued to expand that he was hoping to “spend as much time with family and friends as he can.” Through it all, Taylor has never lost his servant’s heart. Scripture calls us to serve others with love as Galatians 5:13 states, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
In an effort to support Taylor and his family, community members, co-workers, friends and family are coming together in big ways! There is a golf scramble and silent auction THIS FRIDAY September 17th at the Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club in La Grange, TX! If you cannot make the golf scramble, you are encouraged to check out the wonderful auction items donated to relieve even a fraction of the mountain of medical expenses Taylor faces.
